Dual reality is a magic trick ploy in which spectators assume that everybody is witnessing the same performance or effect, but in actuality, different people are finding different meanings of certain deceptive words in the conversation. Generally, in dual reality effects, either the spectator gets more amazed than the rest of the audience or the audience gets more amazed than the spectator. I’ve always disliked these effects because it felt to me someone was always suckered. Either the audience or the spectator, it always felt like a short end of the stick to embarrassing someone or someone doesn’t get the full impact. I always thought that the true form of a dual reality reflection would be in helping two opposing or different value systems be able to share in the same environment but experience it in two completely different ways. Built for two people, DU/ALITY is a guided audio tour and visual experience that will challenge your perception of the world and the impact that we have on it. The project is designed for two people to share physical space but to experience that space completely differently. The blank white space is visually transformed by projectors transforming white walls into beautiful animated images and animations exploring an alien landscape. As the two people sit in the space one is asked to keep their eyes open to watch the transformations while the other is asked to sit quietly and close their eyes imagining the transformation around them until ultimately both share the newly transformed room together. The audio experience uses binaural audio to give a full immersive experience in a foreign and alient landscape.
