The Exposure Project was originally designed to focus on secret pop up experiences and shows around the city. There would be no announcements, no marketing, and no permissions. The shows would be invite only and heard of through word of mouth. They would pop up in unconventional places disappearing as quickly as they arrived.

All would be left with simply a dream of something amazing.

As the world changed, so too did this project. Going from a completely underground and overtly personal experience, The Exposure Project has evolved into a public exploration of magic and immersive storytelling through various platforms and mediums. The goal of the project is to savor the process and explore how to create minimalistic experiences that go deeper or explore our individual senses. Not limited or bound to a specific art, The Exposure Project can explore immersion utilizing multisensory experiences and tools, from projection mapping and binaural audio to more traditional magic performances.

The main question to be asked through all this is:

“with nothing how do I make you believe?”

James Lopez is the founder of the Exposure Project. Originally starting as a magician and stage performer, James has evolved during the coronavirus and is continuing his education and knowledge in various tools and technologies to explore how to create better audience buy in and lead people down, what magicians call, THE MAGIC WAY. By focusing on storytelling and sensory awareness, James aims to create fully developed experiences without having to create extravagant sets or costuming. The strength of the immersion comes from the emotional hook and attachment.

James has performed in New York, Florida, Austin, and at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles. He still regularly performs close-up magic and stage shows throughout the year. His recent collaborations included companies like ABCInteractive(CA), Control Group Productions(CO), and Guilty Pleasures Cabaret(NY) amongst others.
